Curator of stories of the human experience captured through the lens of an African American woman.

Hi, I’m Dori
writer · life-long learner · explorer · work in progress

I write narrative non-fiction stories about real people and actual events. Ordinary folks who live extraordinary lives capture my imagination—folks whose lives memorialize slices of history. Folks with compelling stories remind us of our sameness as we celebrate our unique journeys through life.

Narrative nonfiction uses literary craft to tell true stories in a persuasive, vivid, and dramatic manner to embrace the humanity we share.

Insatiable curiosity, continuous personal improvement, and self-reinvention inform my life choices. I enjoy reading and discussing books, life-long learning, discovery, writing, an active and healthy lifestyle, my two Maltese pups, and spiritual practices (Mindful Awareness Meditation, TM, Tapping, Reiki, Tai Chi, and Yoga).

I’ve studied in Japan, worked in corporate management, vacationed in the Caribbean Islands and Puerto Rico, skied the U.S. and Canada, and visited a sprinkling of U.S. cities.
